ByteByteGo
Visual explainers of how large-scale systems actually work.
About
ByteByteGo is Alex Xu's system-design newsletter, known for turning complex distributed-systems concepts into clear diagrams that show how large platforms are actually architected. It grew out of Xu's popular "System Design Interview" book series, and the newsletter carries the same visual-first teaching style into weekly editions.
Each issue typically walks through how a real company solved a specific infrastructure problem, whether that's caching strategy, database sharding, message queues, or rate limiting, with diagrams doing most of the explanatory work rather than dense prose. It's aimed at engineers preparing for system-design interviews as much as those just trying to understand how the systems they use every day are built.
