Chartbook
Economics, geopolitics, and history, in one notebook.
About
Chartbook comes from economic historian Adam Tooze, and it connects today's economics and geopolitics to the historical currents that produced them. A single issue might move from a central bank decision to the interwar gold standard to a current supply chain crisis, treating all three as part of one story.
It's dense, and unapologetically academic in places, but that's exactly the appeal for readers who find most economic commentary too short-sighted. Tooze is writing for people who want the history built into today's headlines, not stripped out of them.
