Data Is Plural
A weekly list of five interesting public datasets, nothing else.
About
Jeremy Singer-Vine, a data journalist who spent years at BuzzFeed News, has sent Data Is Plural every week since 2015, and it does exactly one thing: point to interesting public datasets. No analysis, no hot takes, just a handful of datasets each week, from government archives to obscure sports records to international labor statistics, each with a sentence of context and a direct link.
It's a strange thing to love a newsletter that's basically a bibliography, but working journalists, researchers, and data hobbyists do, because finding a usable dataset is often the hardest part of a project. Singer-Vine's taste for the specifically odd, shipwreck locations one week, historical menu prices the next, makes it as fun to skim as it is useful to bookmark.
