Jalopnik

Jalopnik covers car culture with a strong point of view, mixing news, road tests, and commentary that isn't afraid to criticize automakers or the industry's own excesses. It grew out of the Gawker Media network and kept that outlet's willingness to write with attitude.

Beyond straightforward car reviews, it covers the culture around cars too (racing, car communities, the business decisions behind recalls and layoffs) with a skepticism toward industry PR that sets it apart from more buttoned-up automotive trade press. Enthusiasts read it as much for the opinionated takes as for the news itself.
