Semafor
A newer newsroom that shows its work.
About
Semafor is a newer newsroom built around a distinctive format: each story separates the reporter's facts from their analysis, then adds a section showing how other outlets are framing the same story. Coverage spans global business, technology, and politics, with an explicit effort to cut down on US-centric framing.
Founded by veteran journalists including Ben Smith and Justin Smith, it's a response to declining trust in media, betting that being transparent about sourcing and viewpoint will rebuild some of it. Readers who want their news broken into fact versus opinion tend to find the format refreshing.
