Transparent Language Blog
Practical language-learning tips across dozens of languages
About
Transparent Language has been selling language software since the 1990s, and its blog has aged into one of the more comprehensive free resources on learning strategy, culture notes, and grammar for a wide range of languages, including several that get little coverage elsewhere, like Icelandic or Pashto.
The writing is utilitarian rather than literary: short posts aimed at people actively studying who want a specific question answered, like how to form the subjunctive in Spanish or what idioms actually get used in everyday Mandarin. Good for dipping in and out of rather than reading cover to cover.
