Increment
Stripe's quarterly magazine on building infrastructure at scale
About
Increment is the engineering magazine Stripe publishes, built around a different infrastructure theme each issue, on-call practices one quarter, developer experience the next. Rather than news, it runs long interviews and essays with engineers at companies like Slack, Shopify and Google, people describing how their systems actually broke and what they changed afterward.
It's slower and more considered than most engineering newsletters, closer to a quarterly journal than a digest, and it's aimed at senior engineers and engineering managers who want to see how other large organizations reason about the same problems they're facing. There's no pretense that every lesson generalizes, which is part of what makes the specific ones worth reading.
